Parent Participation

parent participation helps us learn through playLUMP provides a collaborative environment that connects families and teachers as partners dedicated to the success of all children. Our parent participation model creates enduring connections between staff and families. Parent participation:

  • Helps teachers
  • Builds community
  • Gives parents the opportunity to see their child in the classroom and get to know their child in a different environment

A Gathering Place for Families

a collaborative environment for learningParents are encouraged to participate in the classroom as teacher helpers once a month. Training is provided at an August orientation meeting before school begins and we also provide a Parent Helper Handbook. Parent helpers work very closely with the teacher and provide the class snack or supply for their day of involvement.

Parents choosing not to be helpers pay a small additional fee each month.

In addition to classroom help, families participate heavily in our annual auction, the school’s largest fundraiser. Each family contributes items to the auction, attends the event and selects a volunteer role to contribute to its success.

Additional roles for parents include classroom setup at the beginning of the year, serving on our Parent Advisory Board, coordinating and staffing various community events and fundraisers throughout the year and assisting teachers with special projects.
