Our teachers have higher education level than the state requires and are given the freedom to use their diverse expertise to choose what fits each class best.

We are a team of professionals who utilize quality resources and professional development opportunities to create interactive learning environments that promote the growth of the whole child.

Staff Profiles

Ms. Megan – Megan Broughton 
Program Coordinator

Started at LUMP as a Parent in 2010 and as a Staff Member in 2012

Megan holds her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute and completed her early childhood course work at Red Rocks Community College.

Megan has been working with preschool aged children for over 25 years and has experience with many early childhood philosophies including Waldorf, Reggio Emilia and Montessori. Over the years, she has held several positions at LUMP: parent, teacher aide, classroom teacher and now, program coordinator. 

Megan is a Denver native and lives with her husband, daughters Jordyn and Avery, dog Scout and too many chickens to name in North Denver. She loves to cook, garden, read and spend time outdoors adventuring with her family. Learning through play and advocating for the importance of quality preschool education for all children is Megan’s passion.

Mrs. Cullen – Jenelle Cullen  
3’s & 4’s Teacher, Assistant Program Coordinator & Extended Day Teacher

Started at LUMP as a Staff Member in 2013

Jenelle holds her B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Montana and M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University.

Jenelle began her teaching career as a sixth grade Language Arts teacher at Bear Creek Elementary. Her preschool experience includes work with the Montessori and Tools of the Mind curriculum.

Jenelle moved to the Denver metro area in 2001. She now resides in Lakewood with her husband, her children, Maia and Sawyer, and two dogs, Crosby and Cashel. Her family loves spending time outdoors and takes every opportunity to head to the mountains for skiing and whitewater rafting. Jenelle is grateful to play a role in LUMP’s play-based, parent co-op community, supporting children in how they learn best – through play!

Ms. Mettet – Mettet Ducat-Karpinski
Teacher Aide/Bookkeeper

Started at LUMP as a Parent in 2008 and as a Staff Member in 2015

Mettet studied Child Development and Theatre at California State University, Northridge as an undergrad and graduated Magna cum Laude in Hospitality Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After working in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years, Mettet decided to shift her career to early childhood education so she can spend more time with her children. She completed her early childhood course work at Aims Community College.

Mettet has been working with preschool aged children for 4 years. She enjoys working with children and strongly believes in learning though play and hands on activities.

Mettet lives in Golden with her husband Peter, their two children, Nael and Jeffrey and their dog, Tishum. She enjoys running, traveling, baking, playing board games and spending time outdoors whenever she can with family and friends.

Ms. Meredith – Meredith Langie
Transition Teacher

Started at LUMP as a Parent in 2008 and as a Staff Member in 2016

Meredith holds her Bachelor of Arts in History and Psychology from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN  and completed her Early Childhood Teacher Certification through Red Rocks Community College. Meredith has been an educator since she was a camp counselor at the age of 15.  She taught in Memphis City Schools and Jefferson County Colorado before coming to LUMP. Meredith believes lifelong learning starts with early education and is an advocate for the play-based model.

Meredith lives in Golden with her husband, David, and their four children; Olivia, Holden, Bennett and Bryce.  Meredith and her family enjoy a variety of sports as participants and fans, as well as, the performing arts. They love to travel, watch movies, play games, cook, eat and do everything outdoors

Ms. Vanessa – Vanessa Valentine
3’s & 4’s Teacher

Started at LUMP 2019

 Vanessa has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. Vanessa is also a Certified Trainer for the Pyramid Plus Approach. Vanessa has been in the Early Childhood field for the past 17 years working in various locations including Bal Swan Children’s Center and here in Lakewood. She has experience working with children of all abilities ranging in age from infants to 2nd grade. Vanessa is Lead Teacher Certified and Director Certified through the state of Colorado. Vanessa values the importance of focusing on children’s strengths, teaching social skills and play-based learning. 

Vanessa loves spending time with her husband, Jarad, and her two boys, Everett and Gus. She enjoys traveling, fishing, camping, playing outside in her garden and riding bikes. 

Ms. Gina – Gina Vitry
Teacher Aide/ Teacher Substitute 

Started at LUMP as a Parent in 2012 and as a Staff Member in 2018

 Gina holds her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado and her Master of Arts degrees in Education and Cross-Categorical Special Education.  Gina has been in education for the last 19 years teaching preschool aged children through high schoolers in Colorado Springs, Woodland Park Schools, Jeffco Schools, and most recently, LUMP.  Gina continues to work with school aged children with specific learning disabilities and holds her Early Childhood Teaching and Director Certifications along with her Professional Teaching License. Gina values the importance of play-based early childhood education and believes the lifelong love of learning is developed during these early years.   

Gina lives in Lakewood with her husband Dan and their three children Ellie, Max, and Mario.  Gina and her family enjoy exploring the outdoors, traveling, working in the garden, cheering each other on in sports and activities, playing card and board games, and reading a variety of great books.
