Staff Profiles

Jenelle Cullen started teaching her four and three year old classes at LUMP in 2013. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Montana and her Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University. In 2000, Jenelle began her teaching career teaching sixth grade language arts at Bear Creek Elementary. After taking time off to spend with her two children, Jenelle returned to the teaching profession as a preschool teacher, where she believes kids can learn by what they do best – play! Jenelle’s ECE experience also includes the Montessori philosophy and Tools of the Mind curriculum. Jenelle is grateful to be part of a play based community now, supporting and celebrating the whole child.

Over the past 21 years as an educator Teacher Kimmy Pierce has developed a philosophy of learning that kids learn best when they are truly engaged in active learning opportunities. Her passion for developing social and emotional skills in preschoolers has skyrocketed in her 6 years of teaching at LUMP. She is an enthusiastic proponent of age-appropriate early literacy and has worked as a Public Library Children’s Specialist and an Elementary School Teacher Librarian. She graduated cum laude with a major in Elementary Education.

Angie Brew-Glissmann is entering her third year of working in the classrooms at LUMP. Her daughter attended LUMP’s transition program and she fell in love with the school. She also works part time as a nanny.

Ms. Megan Broughton has been working with preschoolers for most of the last 20 years. She received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and completed her Early Childhood certification at Red Rocks Community College. She began at LUMP as a parent and then worked as the assistant teacher for 5 years before stepping into her current role as 3 and 4 year old teacher. Ms Megan believes that children do their best learning when their imaginations are sparked by play and when they are given opportunities to explore and discover the world around them in a meaningful, hands-on way.

Meredith Langie is joining LUMP this year as a member of our teaching staff. However, she’s a veteran parent, sending all four of her kids to LUMP over the past 9 years! Meredith is a lifelong advocate of using play to teach, an approach she has utilized from her early teaching beginnings as a camp counselor when she was 15 years old. She is excited to share her love of play and learning with our LUMP preschoolers. Meredith studied history, psychology and education as an undergrad, and in 1996, she earned her BFA from Rhodes College in Memphis TN. She has been a classroom teacher for 11 years, both in Memphis and also here in Jefferson County, Colorado.

Mettet Karpinski is a former parent at LUMP and started assisting the teachers in the classroom in 2015. She studied Childhood Development and Theater at the University of Nevada Las Vegas but eventually changed her major and graduated magna cum laude in Hospitality Management.
